Brewing - water
Benefits of water meters
Meters will identify low cost savings, such as:
- unnecessary losses to overflow
- water flowing through faulty valves
- earlier detection of losses; before water bill arrives
- more accurate measurement of effluent flows and thus charges
- identify if any of these losses occur during non-production periods e.g. possible night time
Use the meters to
- Design a preventative maintenance programme
- Set in place a system for reporting unnecessary losses / usage
- Systematically produce trend graphs to make data viewing simple
Meters are certainly justified for flows more than 2000 hl / week
- often justified for lower use areas
Case study: Flensburger water monitoring system
Flensburger has installed a water monitoring system. In a large brewery areas of low importance may go suspended periods without being inspected. This was the case with Flensburger’s effluent outflow pipes. A water monitoring system which was installed allowed for pinpointing problems as soon as they occur and significant savings were made.
