Vessel washing

The aim is always BETTER washing NOT MORE washing

• In many cases the largest cost of washing a vessel is lost production
• The cost of water or detergent disposal is much higher than purchase
  • e.g nanofiltration for detergent recovery
• It may be possible to optimise washing with the help of analytical techniques
  • colour or turbidity of earlier rinses
• Consider re-use of final (and possibly second) rinses from the cycle
  • ensure microbiological growth is not a problem
    • intermittent rinse flow and drain with no flow
• Is it possible to find cheaper water for rinsing?
  • borehole or untreated mains water?
