Re-use of rinses

Screen out solids from returned ullage. This will enable:

• Reduced effluent treatment problems
• Possible beer re-use if pasteurised
  • consider product quality issues
• Increased ability to re-use rinse waters. Consider re- use by:
  • first rinses
  • conveyor washing (and other equipment on the line)
  • external cask rinses

Collection troughs for water

• enable re-use of the rinse waters as above
• ensure they operate effectively (suitably sized and placed)

Consider the possibility of not employing detergents

• water savings through reduced rinsing requirements
• may require more hot water rinsing however

Recirculation of detergents

• by continuous purging of contaminants or periodic empty and refill
