Brewing - water
Fermentation and maturation
Control of fermenter temperature by closed loop refrigerants or chilled wate
- may depend on size of fermenters
- if not closed loop then install water meters
- optimise flow of water to achieve process objective
- ensure coolant flows are stopped when vessel not in use
Jacketed fermenters are easier to clean than others
- less water use in cleaning
- however vessels are expensive
Panel coolers are easier to clean than cooling coils
- consider replacing coils with panels when replacement required
Consider Dual Purpose Vessels (DPVs)
- only one clean per batch therefore reduced water usage
- also help with the process flexibility of the brewery
- perhaps have a percentage of capacity as DPVs
Confirm equipment uses water at its recommended consumption
- if higher savings are possible
