Brewing - water
Smallpack
Confirm equipment uses water at its recommended consumption
- if higher usage then savings are possible
- operate according to manufacturer’s instructions
Signs that significant water savings are possible:
- overflow of tanks other than the pre-rinse collection tank
- significant use of fresh water in sections other than final rinse
Automate the pre-washing of cans or bottles so that the water is immediately switched off when run stops
Consider re-using final rinse waters as first rinses
- or for more general washing duties
Automate the tunnel pasteurisation of cans or bottles so that the water jets are immediately switched off when run stops
- also consider recovering water that leaves on conveyor with pack
- operate at the correct speed
Automate the bottle washing so that rinses are off when conveyor is stationary
Avoid where possible running the line partially loaded
Ensure caustic detergent strengths are correctly controlled
- else excessive rinsing may be required
Clean conveyor belts with pressure washers
Crates. Consider an “ultrasonic bath” system for good water economy.
