Film samples are generally tested for friction against themselves. Samples are attached to the test bed of the equipment and also to a sled of a fixed mass and surface area. It’s important to know which side of the film sample is being tested as plastic films may have different surfaces on each side or different surface treatments.

The sled moves along the test bed at a fixed speed or for a fixed distance according to the test standard used.

The equipment can accurately detect very low frictional forces.

Results of the tests are graphically displayed.

The equipment makes it possible to graphically overlay results for comparison purposes.
