This half day course provides an overview of food labelling legislation in Australia and New Zealand, helping food business operators who want to export their products to Australia and New Zealand produce legally compliant labels.

Who is the target audience for this course?

  • Employees involved in creating and approving labels for Australian and New Zealand markets.

The course will be delivered live online over the course of one morning (0900 - 1300 hours UK time), participants will be sent log in details for a Microsoft Teams session. 

Training Course content

The course will provide an overview of regulations and guidance on the mandatory elements of compliant food and drink labels for Australia and New Zealand:

  • General overview of the legal framework applicable to labelling requirements
  • Food identification
  • Allergen labelling
  • Ingredient listing
  • Nutrition labelling
  • Date marking, storage, instructions for use, supplier details
  • Origin labelling
  • Quantity marking
  • Product claims, including nutrition and health claims
  • Presentation of mandatory food information.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course delegates will:

  • have an understanding of the relevant food and drink labelling legislation in Australia and New Zealand
  • be able to generate compliant labels
  • be able to recognise and challenge any non-compliance.
