Improving nutritional quality: Campden BRI seminar
There is a need to continuously improve the overall nutritional quality of food and drink products, which is often overshadowed by pressure to reduce levels of the 'public health nutrients'.
A Campden BRI seminar - Improving nutritional quality: Product development opportunities for the food and drink industry, to be held on 15th April, will highlight key product development opportunities to improve the nutritional quality of the food consumed in the UK, and discuss the latest science and technology linking food production to nutrient provision. As well as an update on current and projected legislative changes for foodstuffs, the event will address:
- How reformulation to remove sugar and fat affects nutritional quality of diets
- Where the food industry can act to reduce micronutrient deficiency risk
- The options for innovation beyond modifying macronutrient provision
- How the industry can communicate the benefits of nutrition innovation to the consumer
- Next steps for the improvement of the nutritional quality of food and drink consumed in the UK
