Current and future legislation: UK, EU and worldwide seminar from Campden BRI
As the UK moves towards independence from the European Union there is much uncertainty as to what this might mean for the UK’s food industry. For this seminar, to be held on 1 December, Campden BRI has assembled an expert team from across the food industry to give their perspectives.
The seminar will also cover emerging food regulatory topics from outside the EU as they may well become more important as the regulatory landscape changes. There will also be a Trading Standards view on the enforcement of the Food Information to Consumer Regulations, a perspective on improvement notices and how their use interacts with primary authority arrangements. Event Director Linda Amirat comments:
"The seminar will give delegates an opportunity to get a heads up on what the UK’s exit from the EU potentially means to the food industry and food labelling. Global regulatory awareness might become increasingly important as the UK moves on and it will be instructive to hear what is going on outside of the EU.
The implementation of FIC is behind most businesses now but not for trading standards, who have to enforce this law and give clarity to its content. Most people have heard of improvement notices but might be wondering about how they are being used; this will shed some light on that and explain how they interact with primary authority arrangements."
