Analytical Services

We offer commercial analytical lab chemistry testing for food and drink, including: nutritional and health, microscopy, biochemistry, allergens, chromatography,  packaging, cereals and ingredients, and wines and spirits

Microscopy Team

Campden BRI support the food & drink industry with identifying foreign bodies. You will be

responsible for focusing and steering of the Microscopy team as well as the development of new microscopy services. Plan, undertake, report and authorise project work in the Microscopy Section.  Management of a team and providing support and training to other members of Microscopy.


Position

  • Authorising / signing off reports for submission to clients.
  • Staff management including training, development and support.
  • Responding to client enquiries and providing tailored quotes.
  • Responsible for steering, focusing and developing new service offerings/analyses within Microscopy.
  • Undertaking microscopic investigations of; glass/foreign bodies of a highly varied nature, ‘non-standard’ samples, authenticity screening and food microstructure.  Preparation and submission of technical reports to food industry clients and/or internal members of staff when required.
  • To keep neat and orderly records of results and other relevant information.
  • To work in a safe manner in accordance with departmental policies.
  • To work in accordance with the Campden BRI Management System.

Requirements

 

  • Science degree.
  • Strong working knowledge and experience of Microscopy techniques (stereo, compound and scanning electron) and FT-IR spectroscopy in order to assist with the development of new services/analytical techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage and build rapport with existing, potential, and new clients.
  • Effective at managing client expectation.
  • Transferring specialist knowledge to other members of the team.
  • Competent in following written methods and procedures in the laboratory.
  • Experience in using databases for example LIMS.
  • Excellent time management and adherence to timescales.
  • Ability to work on own or as part of a team.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Accurate record keeping.
  • Effective co-ordination and collaboration of project groups / internal teams.

Additional information:

Please note due to our rural location you must be able to drive and have your own transport.

 

Working hours- Monday-Friday 8.45am-5.15pm (4.30pm finish on Fridays).
